Those using the Pulaski County Recycling & Transfer Station will soon notice a few changes at the facility.
Manager Brad Bonnell told the county commissioners Monday that heavy use of the transfer station calls for greater efficiency. “Usually Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays are the heaviest days at the transfer station,” he said, “and I have a small scale house built that I would like to place beside the scales to alleviate some of the traffic and congestion out there.”
He said it will eliminate some of the confusion of which vehicle came with which load. “Basically, they would pull on to weigh, and then they could be guided to where they need to go, whether it be construction or household waste,” he explained. “And after they dump, they can pull back on the scale, so we can collect the money there at the scales, rather than them having to pull back around and then walk back into the building.”
Bonnell added that it would be a temporary setup, with the potential for something more permanent if it’s successful.
