The North Judson Town Council plans to apply for a state grant to help offset the cost of removing a downtown building. During a special-called meeting last Thursday council members voted to proceed with the blight elimination grant application from the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
It would require a 10 percent match from the town to tear down the structure at 205 and 207 Lane Street. It’s been deemed unsafe. North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Alicia Collins notes the building will need to be cordoned off during the upcoming Mint Festival, and vendors will not be able to set up in front of the building.
