An inmate at the Westville Correctional Facility who went missing Friday has been found inside the facility. Prison staff say Orville Morris, 35, apparently crawled up into some of the mechanical systems in the ceiling of the pallet shop where he worked.
Superintendent Mark Sevier says his teams went through the entire facility three times searching for Morris. Staff members reportedly heard a noise and then found him hiding on a ledge along the building’s HVAC ductwork.
Officials with the Indiana Department of Correction say Morris will be placed in an “extremely high security restrictive housing unit.” They add he will be charged internally for the attempted escape, and the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office will consider felony charges.
