The Wheatfield man who was killed in a Sunday night motorcycle accident on U.S. 421 in San Pierre died of blunt force head trauma. That’s the finding of an autopsy report conducted Monday on 53-year-old Joseph Louis Fuentes. Starke County Coroner Dannie Hoffer pronounced him dead at 11:41 p.m.
Toxicology results are pending. Fuentez was a highly-decorated federal probation and pretrial services officer who works at the U.S. Courthouse in Hammond.
A passenger on his motorcycle was seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Office. The passenger’s name has not been released at this time.
