The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the three-year-old boy run over by a tractor Wednesday. Edward Burek-Phillips, called “Bubby” by his family, was riding his bike on his family’s farm when it happened, according to police.
He was reportedly hit by the rear tires of a tractor driven by his grandfather, Ed Burek, who was heading out into a field. Police say Bubby often rode with his grandfather on the tractor.
Bubby reportedly suffered head and internal injuries. Family members tell police that he’s in critical but stable condition at Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago. They say Bubby is currently sedated but did wake up briefly.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says the family is grateful for the quick emergency response and for the prayers of the community.
