Friday’s deaths of a Monterey couple in their home have been ruled a murder-suicide. Starke County Coroner Dannie Hoffer tells WKVI News Clifford Foster, 53, shot his wife, Lynn, age 52, in the head with a pistol before turning a shotgun on himself.
A deputy from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to their residence in the 8800 block of South Elm Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday to do a welfare check on Lynn Foster. A coworker called 911 after she did not come to work and advised Foster had been having problems with her husband all week.
When deputies arrived at the home, the doors were locked, so they had to wait for a family member with a key to come let them in. When they entered, they found both Clifford and Lynn dead.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Knox and North Judson Police Departments, Starke County Coroner’s Office and crime scene technicians from the Indiana State Police.
Hoffer says a forensic autopsy conducted Monday confirmed the cause and manner of their deaths.
