The Pulaski County Courthouse elevator is another step closer to getting replaced. The county commissioners approved an addendum Monday to move forward with the design for a new elevator.
The existing one is considered too small to properly fit people using wheelchairs. It’s also obsolete and has a bad motor, according to County Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston. That means it will have to be entirely rebuilt.
It’s part of a larger effort to make the courthouse more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Larger-scale courthouse renovations have also been discussed.
