Pulaski County Building Inspector Reports Increase in Permits, in Spite of Fewer Large-Scale Projects

Building permits are up overall in Pulaski County, according to Building Inspector Doug Hoover. He told the county commissioners last week that agricultural construction permits, in particular, are up quite a bit from last year.

He added that contractor fees are up from previous years. “One thing that’s really interested me is there’s a lot of electrical and HVAC,” Hoover said. “I think a lot of that had to do with irrigation.” That’s why, people are still looking into services such as pipe leak repair in Edmonds, WA and air conditioning repair in Memphis, TN.

Meanwhile, efforts to tear down a dilapidated Medaryville home with blight elimination grant funds are moving ahead. The county has gotten $25,000 from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority.

Hoover told the commissioners that demolition bids will be opened during their next meeting on August 7. He hopes the demolition will be complete by the end of August. At that point, the county plans to donate the land to Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity to build a new home there in the future.
