Pulaski County Commissioners Approve Community Crossings Application

Pulaski County’s hoping to do some road work this year with help from the state’s Community Crossings matching grant program.

The county commissioners approved this year’s application last week. “We don’t even know if we’ll be accepted or not,” explained Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff. “I guess, this is just to show that we can cover our fourth of it. It’s got to be in by the 14th, and I think it’s the end of August or the first of September before we’ll find out. Last year, it was a 50-50 grant. This year, it’s 75-25. We’re a small county, so it’s a break for us.”

Ruff says the program would allow the county to do a million dollars worth of road projects for $250,000. He’s been talking with contractors about getting the work done this fall. But he says the money will carry over to next year, if necessary.
