Giving students the chance to play a musical instrument is the goal of a fundraiser taking place this weekend in Knox. Drew’s Gift of Music will host its sixth annual event this Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at the Knox VFW.
It will include dinner, an auction, and entertainment for $10. Before the official event gets underway, a motorcycle ride will take place. Registration gets underway at 11:00 a.m., with take-off set for noon. The cost to take part in the motorcycle ride is $20 or $30 with a passenger.
Proceeds will benefit the non-profit Drew’s Gift organization, which provides musical instruments to children whose families otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford them, as well as scholarships. It was started by the family of Drew Shearin. He was a Knox high school student and an accomplished musician, who died in a car crash at age 17, back in 2011.
