A portion of Pulaski County Road 600 West may soon be getting a lower speed limit. Resident Karen Gourley requested the change during last week’s county commissioners meeting. “When it goes from pavement to gravel and that gravel’s loose, there have been a lot of accidents down there, and a lot of them have not been reported,” she said. “They’ll flip their vehicles back over out of the cornfield and drive off.”
However, County Attorney Kevin Tankersley advised that any formal speed limit change would be up to the county council, not the commissioners. In the meantime, Commissioner Kenny Becker said he’s asked the county highway department to look into installing other types of signage encouraging drivers to slow down.
