Two people are dead and one person was hospitalized after a series of weekend drug overdoses in southern LaPorte County.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says the first incident happened around 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Union Mills. Police say Mark Laskarin, 30, was pronounced dead, after he was found unresponsive in a bedroom at a home in the 900 block of Second Street.
Then around 10:00 p.m. Saturday, Annette Leden, 36, was reportedly found unresponsive in a vehicle and taken to a home in the 300 block of Legion Road in Wanatah. LaPorte County EMS was able to revive her using Narcan. Leden was taken to Porter Regional Hospital in stable condition, according to police.
Then around 9:00 a.m. Sunday, Robert Goldstein, 29, was pronounced dead, after being found unresponsive in a bedroom at a home in the 13000 block of South County Road 400 West in Hanna.
Investigators with the LaPorte County Drug Task Force believe at least two of the overdoses may be connected. They think all three were opiate-related, but they’re waiting for toxicology results before making an official determination.
