The Hamlet-Davis Township Volunteer Fire Department is getting a new pickup truck, with money from the sale of an old fire truck.
The Town of Hamlet recently made $40,500 by selling an unneeded fire truck to the Fenton, Louisiana Fire Department. The town council voted Wednesday to allow the fire department to use $36,700 of that to buy a 2018 Ram 2500 from Oliver Ford and outfit it with a topper, lights, and other equipment.
It will be used as a command vehicle and for first responder calls. The fire department plans to trade in the Chevrolet Suburban currently used for those purposes.
The money left over will go toward upgrading the department’s equipment.
