Oregon-Davis High School students may soon be able to take classes in Industrial Automation and Robotics, Criminal Justice, and Electronic Music. An updated course description guide was presented to the school board last week, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman. “Some of the classes that we’re adding are some Engineering and Technology classes: for example, Transportation Systems, Introduction to Communication, Introduction to Engineering Design,” he says. “Also, a Personal Finance Responsibility course.”
Some new classes are also planned in a few other areas, like Fine Arts. “Drawing, Electronic Music, Music History and Appreciation,” Harman says. “Also, our Lifeguarding Certification class in our Health Department. Social Studies: Current Problems, Issues, and Events; Ethnic Studies; and Indiana Studies. In Career and Technology, Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Industrial Automation and Robotics 1 and 2, Criminal Justice.”
And if that’s not enough, Harman says a variety of online classes will be offered through a digital learning program called Apex. “We have, I’m going to say, upwards of 20 courses that students could take online, if we do not offer the course, or if they want to retake the course for a credit.”
The O-D School Board will make a final decision on the new classes during next month’s meeting. If approved, the new courses will be offered starting next school year.
