A two-month investigation into contraband at the LaPorte County Jail has resulted in three arrests. Police with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office say they first got information about possible contraband in September. A search of the cell block housing inmate workers reportedly turned up tobacco, marijuana, and a cell phone.
Police say an investigation into the source resulted in the arrest of James Lane III, a 20-year-old jail kitchen employee, on September 8. A week later, jail inmate Roddi Boesel, 30, was also implicated in the incident and charged, according to officers.
Now, LaPorte County Police say they made a third arrest last week. Ashely Conner, 34, of Hobart was arrested on November 8. Lane, Boesel, and Conner were all charged with trafficking with an inmate, a Level 5 felony.
