Present Theft Prevented by Starke County Sheriff’s Department

Shortly after noon on Sunday, December 24th,  Starke County Dispatch received a 911 call advising of a burglary in progress.

According to information received by Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin, the 911 caller stated they had just witnessed a man gain entry into a home through a back door. Starke County Sheriff Deputy’s arrived quickly and reportedly found a man exiting the garage with several wrapped gifts in his arms.

The man was identified as 55-year-old Thomas Spiewak, of Hamlet. Spiewak was arrested for Burglary and Theft, and transported to the Starke County Jail. Sheriff Dulin added that all the presents were returned to the home owner.
