Tri-Township School Superintendent to Resign in June

An area school superintendent is stepping down at the end of the school year. Tim Somers says he’s resigning from his position as superintendent of the Tri-Township Consolidated School Corporation, effective June 30. “I just feel that it is time for a change in leadership at Tri-Township,” he says. “I think I have led through some difficult times, and now it’s time for a fresh start for the corporation. I want to see this corporation do well, and so that’s why I am resigning.” Somers says his resignation was accepted by the school board during a recent meeting.

Now, he says board members will begin a search process, with the goal of having a new superintendent in place by July. “Indiana State University . . . they have a free service that they go out and help school boards find viable candidates for their school corporations,” he explains.

Somers is now in his sixth year as Tri-Township’s superintendent. The school corporation consists of LaCrosse High School and Wanatah School.
