A resolution letting the Winamac Park Board’s advisory council transition into a “Friends of the Parks” group will be considered during tonight’s park board meeting.
The idea came from some advisory council members, who felt they were duplicating many of the park board’s efforts. They say the group would continue to serve the same basic function of fund-raising and coordinating volunteers. But by being less structured, members feel they could encourage more people to get involved.
To allow the group to restructure, the park board first has to decide to officially abolish the advisory council. Tonight’s Winamac Park Board meeting starts at 6:00 EST at the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex.
