This week, Knox Park Board members voted to continue holding Movies in the Park this summer.
When members met Thursday evening, Park Board President Autumn Ferch stated that they pay a licensing fee per movie. It was mentioned last year that the children’s movies were far more popular than those that were targeted toward adults.
Ferch asked members if they had any preferences on when to start and which days to hold them on. She mentioned that last year, holding them too close to when school was in session affected the amount of people who attended the showings.
They considered starting the first week of June and holding them on alternating Wednesdays. However, members agreed to table the discussion until the next meeting so they can have some time to weigh the pros and cons of particular dates.
Mayor Dennis Estok added that Jim Jenkins, former member of the Planning Commission, donated about $538 to the Park Board to help fund Movies in the Park this summer.
