Pulaski Council to Consider Additional Appropriations for Bridge Work, Indian Trails Cooperative

A week into 2018, the Pulaski County Council is already considering its first additional appropriation and transfer requests tonight.

One of those would make funds available for the replacement of the bridge on County Road 700 North over Bogus Run, according to Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff. “They call it an additional appropriation,” he told the county commissioners last week. “Basically, we’re moving money out of the Special LOIT Distribution Fund, so we can pay on the Bridge 154 project. That’s up there on 700 North. That basically just opens the money available so we can use it for that bridge.”

Ruff is also expected to request a pair of budget transfers, while Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston plans to ask for two additional appropriations. Council members are also expected to finalize a $30,000 additional appropriation for the Indian Trails Career Cooperative. That money would allow the cooperative to upgrade its equipment and train teachers. But beyond that, it would be part of a local match, if Indian Trails is able to secure a Skill UP grant from the state.

In other business tonight, the Pulaski County Council is scheduled to reorganize for the year and set its 2018 meeting schedules. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:00 EST at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
