Pulaski County saw an increase in building permits in 2017, compared to the year before. Building Inspector Doug Hoover gave his year-end report to the county commissioners Tuesday. “We were up about 20 percent on more permits,” he said. “I don’t know exactly why, but I guess that’s a good thing. The revenue was not quite as much because we didn’t have Rose Acres. That was a big one, and there’s several big ones.”
Hoover expects the positive trend to continue. “For 2018, I’ve already got several big projects coming in, so I think’s it’s going to be up,” he said.
He also told the commissioners that the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals have moved their meetings to the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex for 2018. That will keep the meetings accessible to those with disabilities, while the elevator at the Pulaski County Courthouse is being replaced.
