The Pulaski County Election Board finalized arrangements for early primary voting, during Monday’s meeting. The early voting period runs from April 10 through May 7, ahead of the May 8 primary.
In Winamac, in-person absentee voting will take place at the Pulaski County Justice Center. A special area in the foyer has been set aside for that purpose, according to Election Board Chair Jon Frain. He says moving early voting to the Justice Center will ensure accessibility for those with disabilities. It will also be more convenient for County Clerk Christi Hoffa, whose office is in the courthouse across the street.
Voting will take place there Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. EDT during the absentee voting period. Voters can also cast their ballots on two Saturdays, April 28 and May 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Frain says the election board has decided to expand early voting hours in Francesville, due to its popularity in 2016. Voters can cast ballots at the Francesville Fire Station on two Fridays, April 27 and May 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday, April 28 and Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Early voting will end May 7 at noon. Election day voting will take place Tuesday, May 8 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the county’s five vote centers.
Frain encourages residents to vote early. He notes that voters living anywhere in Pulaski County may cast their ballots at either early voting site. Those who are elderly, disabled, or can’t make it to the polls during that period can also make arrangements with the Clerk’s Office to vote by mail or travel board.
