Eastern Pulaski Elementary School students have made a big impact over the years, when it comes to raising money for heart health. The school board got an update last week on the Jump Rope for Heart program from PE teacher Denise Parcel.
Superintendent Dan Foster says the program teaches students how to be heart healthy, while also raising money for the American Heart Association. “Over the past 10 years, they have raised $93,000, and she said that’s as far back as the records go, but Miss Parcel personally has been here longer than that,” Foster explains. “So she has definitely eclipsed the $100,000 mark, and maybe $150,000, $200,000.”
Foster adds that 167 out of the school’s 600 students took part in Jump Rope for Heart this past year, raising nearly $13,000.
