The Pulaski County Commissioners are finally expected to open bids today for lawn care and snow removal at various county properties. The idea of hiring an outside contractor to do the work was raised several months ago, as a cheaper alternative to upgrading the county’s equipment.
Finding someone to do the work has taken longer than expected, though. The process was delayed last month, after no bids were received by the original deadline. Seven bids were obtained on the second try, but the commissioners tabled the discussion earlier this month without opening them.
Also during this morning’s meeting, the commissioners are expected to discuss a possible tourism advertising campaign with Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer. The county ran online tourism ads last year, but Origer says they weren’t as effective as the television advertising campaign the county used in 2016. He’s been soliciting proposals for a possible return to television.
In other business this morning, Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff is expected to discuss equipment issues. Updates are also expected from the Pulaski County Election Board, EMS Director Bryan Corn, and Recycling and Transfer Station Manager Brad Bonnell. This morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting starts at 8:00 EST at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
