Pulaski County officials continue to consider whether to hire an outside company to mow the lawn and remove snow at various county properties. The idea was raised several months ago, as a cheaper alternative to upgrading the county’s equipment. Last week, the county commissioners opened bids from six companies interested in the lawn care work, but few of them submitted a price for snow removal.
Commissioner Kenny Becker asked Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston to review the bids before they make a decision. “Well you go through them. See what you think. Figure up what it would cost,” Becker said. “I know you was wanting to buy a new lawnmower, and I think your lawnmower was like $10,000, $9,800, or something that time, if I remember correct. See what you come up with, and then kind of figure your labor in, too, and your fuel and your time, and just see where we come out at.”
Becker pointed out that they could try contracting out the lawn mowing for a year, and then reevaluate it, if necessary.
