The Pulaski County Council is moving ahead with funding arrangements for a new door control system at the Pulaski County Justice Center.
Sheriff Jeff Richwine told council members Monday that the issue was brought up last year, but the money still hasn’t been put in place. “It’s so old that it’s shut down several times, and we restart it,” he said. “Can’t get parts for it. It’s a 20-year-old computer system. It’s for every door in the building, and it’s a whole new software and computers.”
Back in August, council members directed Richwine to make a down payment then, and pay the remainder of the cost this year. But he said that money wasn’t placed into his budget, so now an additional appropriation is needed.
Council members agreed to consider a $145,000 additional appropriation request, with the bulk of that money to come out of County Economic Development Income Tax revenues. The request will be advertised, and the county council will make a final decision in March.
Council members also voted to advertise additional appropriation requests for the Highway Department. It’s a required step, officially making Community Crossings grant funds available for use on upcoming bridge and paving projects.
Also during Monday’s meeting, budget transfers were approved for the clerk’s and assessor’s offices. Council members also ratified some end-of-the year budget transfers that weren’t approved last month.
