Gary Poppins’ Starke County facility is up and running, according to Starke County Economic Development Foundation Special Projects Coordinator Ron Gifford. He briefly mentioned the startup during his report to the Hamlet Town Council Wednesday. “Gary Poppins has started production at the old Stelrema Building,” he said.
The company began as a retail store in Evanston, Illinois in 2003 and has since grown into a wholesale producer and distributor. Gary Poppins first announced plans to move into the former Stelrema Building north of Knox a year ago. The company had originally planned to start production there by the end of 2017, but various issues delayed the move by a few months.
