Knox Elementary School students who need help with school expenses will get some assistance. A $500 donation for delinquent lunch accounts from A.L. Olson Real Estate was formally accepted by the school board last week.
Also during last week’s meeting, Elementary School Principal Glenn Barnes told board members that two staff members were awarded four grants from the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation. “One was Jennifer Fletcher’s cross-categorical classroom, and the other was Charlene Libey’s fifth grade classroom,” Barnes explained. “They’ll each be doing different things with those moneys, but again, we do appreciate the extra funds to help our students do some wonderful things.”
The Cheryl Lyn Welter Foundation aims to help with the cost of field trips, school supplies, and other minor expenses that may otherwise be out of families’ reach.
