Pulaski County will try to sell some county-owned land in the Monterey Resorts area. The county commissioners approved a contract Monday with SRI, to sell various parcels in the area. “They will do a commissioners’ deed sale and do all of the properties at one time, take care of everything, for 15 percent of what they collect,” County Attorney Kevin Tankersley explained.
The parcels reportedly came into the county’s possession several years ago. Tankersley told the commissioners earlier this month that past attempts to sell them have been unsuccessful because the area’s prone to flooding and difficult to build on.
However, people have begun expressing interest in the properties over the past year. The issue was brought back to the county commissioners earlier this month by a nearby resident who said she’s been trying to buy one parcel from the county for the past seven months or so.
Tankersley was concerned that the cost of selling the land would far exceed what it’s worth, but this week, he expressed satisfaction with SRI’s price.
