Driving 160 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road landed a Wisconsin man in the LaPorte County Jail Tuesday evening, according to Indiana State Police. Trooper Dustin Eggert says he saw a Dodge Challenger Hellcat pass him at a high rate of speed heading east and then weave through traffic without using turn signals.

Eggert tried to catch up to the vehicle. He says he was going 150 miles per hour, but the Hellcat continued to pull away. Police say the Hellcat eventually got caught behind two semis that were driving next to each other, and Eggert was able to pull it over about seven miles east of the LaPorte exit.

The driver, J. Jesus Duran Sandoval, 38, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, reportedly admitted to driving a bit more than 160 miles per hour. He reportedly added that he was just trying to get to Maryland.

Sandoval was arrested on a preliminary charge of reckless driving. Police also believe he was driving on an expired license.

State Police say this is the second incident of drivers going over 130 miles per hour on the Toll Road in the last two weeks.
