When North Judson Town Council members met this week, they received a brief update about the Mint Festival from event organizer Donna Henry.
According to Henry, everything is on schedule. She told members that they received a grant for the pedal tractor pull. She also mentioned that organizers are waiting to hear back from Knox Community School Officials about using the middle school for the Mint Festival Pageant since NJSP will be unavailable due renovation projects planned this summer.
At a previous meeting, Henry shared that the theme this year is ‘Mint to be Friends’ which was inspired by some new friends the Mint Festival representatives made recently.
Henry stated, “The new friends are a group of special-ed students [from Schererville]. They decided to have a project on mint agriculture and so they looked up our North Judson Mint Festival.” She went on, “They sent us a request for some mint oil and we sent it to them, they made some candy canes with the mint oil and they sent us a note kind of reviewing what they did. So when we discussing what to use for our theme, we thought, ‘What about something incorporating these new friends that we’ve made?’”
The Mint Festival will be held this summer on Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th. If you have any questions or wish to be a sponsor call (219) 395-6504.
