Pulaski County and Francesville officials will meet with the developer of a proposed wind farm next week. In a Facebook post Thursday, county officials said representatives from RES Americas will meet with several elected and appointed officials from the town and county this coming Tuesday.
The purpose of the meeting is to allow RES representatives to introduce themselves, discuss what they hope to do, and review the agreements that would have to be approved if the development were to move ahead in the future, according to county officials. They add that the meeting is for information-gathering purposes only, and no governing body will have a quorum present, so it does not have to be open to the public.
Meanwhile, work is underway to update the county’s Unified Development Ordinance. Specifically, county officials say they may be looking to increase setbacks and change the measuring system so all setbacks are based on property lines, instead of structures. They hope to have the proposed changes complete by the end of the first week of May, and make them available for the public’s review. Residents will then have a chance to weigh in on the proposed changes during the Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission’s next regular meeting on May 29.
Planning also continues for an informational meeting, which would feature a guest speaker, as well as residents from other counties that already have wind turbines. It’s expected to take place in early-to-mid June.
