Knox Police are reminding residents that they can submit anonymous tips using a new mobile app. The Knox City PD app lets users send anonymous messages to local law enforcement, and allows officers to ask follow-up questions. The free app is available from the Google Play and iTunes App stores.
Even without the app, residents can send anonymous tips by texting the keyword KNOXPD, along with their message, to 847411. Developers say either method is 100-percent anonymous, and that all identifying information is removed before the message reaches police.
The system was made by tip411, which has created similar tools for communities across the country.
