The investigation into the disappearance and death of 37-year-old Knox resident Barbara McCurdy continues.
Pulaski County Coroner John Behny reports that toxicology and autopsy tests have been conducted and the results are in. However, an official ruling for the cause and manner of death is pending the completion of the investigation.
Behny stated that he is holding off on declaring an official ruling since making a definitive claim at this point could potentially interfere with the ongoing investigation and relevant information that could impact the ruling is still being obtained.
He indicated that while toxicology and autopsy results do provide important information that will be useful for the ruling, it is still imperative to thoroughly review all available details to ensure that the most accurate ruling will be made.
Behny said he continues to coordinate with Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office investigators and officers with the Knox and Winamac Police Departments about this top priority case.
As a reminder, McCurdy was initially reported missing on January 20th but the report indicated that she had been seen last in Knox on January 14th, driving her black 2006 Chevy Cobalt. A missing person investigation was conducted and McCurdy was eventually found deceased in her vehicle at a car dealership in Winamac on February 2nd.
