Pulaski County Council to Make Money Available for Courthouse Elevator Replacement

With construction underway on a new elevator at the Pulaski County Courthouse, the county council is working to come up with a way to pay for it. Auditor Laura Wheeler told council members Monday that while they had agreed to cover the cost, they had never actually decided which fund that money would come out of.

County officials noted that there’s currently just under $100,000 worth of bills waiting to be paid. Council members decided to take $100,000 from the County Economic Development Income Tax Fund, since they weren’t sure how much money was in the Cumulative Building Fund.

To make that money available, an additional appropriation will be advertised for the council to consider during next month’s meeting. Council President Jay Sullivan noted that if the Cumulative Building Fund does have money available, it may be used for future project bills. The total construction bid was for $489,000.
