The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is transferring ownership of some unneeded equipment. The county commissioners Monday authorized Sheriff Jeff Richwine to sell some heavy-duty police vests.
“We have some of those that sit down in our armory we don’t use because they don’t fit, and there’s a county that’s interested in purchasing those,” he explained. “So we kind of got a count of how many we had and what all was there and agreed on a price. I actually let them have the vests already. I was going to let them use them. They’re going to start up a SWAT team, and I think their school’s this week or something.” Richwine said he plans to put the proceeds into his department’s equipment fund, to be used for new vests.
The commissioners also voted to let the sheriff officially transfer the ownership of two military-style vehicles to Pulaski County REACT. Richwine explained that REACT has actually been using the vehicles for years, but his department has just now found the titles to transfer.
Richwine also reported that there are a few other vehicles that aren’t being used, including the old animal control pickup truck. He also planned to check with the Coroner’s Office to see if it still wants its old minivan. The commissioners agreed to let Richwine sell the vehicles, if no other county departments have a need for them.
