Some of the efforts that various Winamac departments have put forth recently to address certain citizen concerns were acknowledged during Monday night’s Town Council meeting.
Earlier this month, Park Board President Courtney Poor called attention to the fact that the parking lot at the Winamac Wellness Center was in need of repairs. He came before the town council this week to express his gratitude for how quickly the matter was addressed.
“Well I’m here as a private citizen to say that you on the record to the town board, to the town manager and to the street department on behalf of the Winamac Wellness Center,” Poor went on, “because I sent an email to you folks about a concern as a citizen for safety and you folks have already taken care of it.”
Town Manager Brad Zellers noted that while the holes were patched up to address the safety concerns, some additional paving to the whole parking lot may be done when street department crews address roads later this year.
Poor also spoke as a representative of Winamac Parks and Recreation and thanked the Police Department for increasing their visibility in the town’s parks. He said a concern was expressed to Town Marshal Mike Buchanan and he worked with his department to alleviate the issue. Poor said that it has made a noticeable difference.
