About 400 parcels of Pulaski County-owned land near Monterey will soon be going up for auction. SRI will conduct a commissioners deed sale August 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pulaski County Highway Garage in Winamac.
During a public hearing on the sale earlier this month, Auditor Laura Wheeler explained that each of the parcels will be sold individually. “They are tax-free,” she said. “You take deed the same day. A successful bidder must be able to pay 100 percent of the purchase price on the date the bid is accepted. It says that the property taxes will be pro-rated, but I am told that the property taxes will not be due until the year 2020.”
The commissioners agreed to set a minimum sale price of $25 per parcel. But it was noted that much of the land is located in a flood plain. Additionally, the commissioners voted last week to allow the properties’ location to be displayed on Pulaski County’s online GIS map.
During this month’s joint meeting with the county council, the commissioners reappointed Mark Wuethrich to the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Board.
