The Culver School Board is expected to decide tonight whether to put an operating referendum on the November ballot. In an operating referendum, school districts ask voters for permission to raise property taxes up to a certain amount over a period of up to eight years. That money is then used to help fund teacher salaries and educational programs. Voters in the Oregon-Davis School Corporation approved an operating referendum this spring, but a similar measure failed at Argos Community Schools in 2016.
In other business tonight, the Culver School Board will consider breakfast and lunch prices, along with middle/high school book rental fees for the coming year. Elementary school book rental fees were finalized last month.
Board members will also consider a resolution regarding a school technology grant and the transfer of general fund money. The technology director’s contract will be up for renewal, and policy updates will be considered.
Tonight’s Culver School Board meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. EDT at the Culver Schools Administration Office.
