The Knox City Police Department will soon gain another officer. Police Chief Harold Smith provided a report to Board of Works members last Wednesday, filling them in on the hiring process thus far.
He said the applicant testing was held last Sunday. He noted that a total of seven applicants were scheduled to come in but only three individuals showed up. Background checks are currently being conducted on all three of the candidates.
Once the background checks are complete, Chief Smith said that one person will be selected to join the force. He expects that decision to be reached within the next week or so.
