The Knox School Board got an update last week on a pair of state grant programs. Director of Curriculum and Instruction Peggy Shidaker said the $50,000 Secured School Safety Matching Grant the corporation recently got will help pay for a new fire/surveillance system at the high school.
She also said the corporation was awarded about $21,500 in Formative Assessment Grant funding. Part of that will help cover the cost of getting the Apex digital learning system. Shidaker said that students in grades six through 10 will be assessed using Apex tutorials, while those in kindergarten through fifth grade will take the NWEA.
She also reported that the school corporation’s eLearning program has officially been approved for another year by the Indiana Department of Education, following the school board’s approval back in June.
