Knox School Corporation to Pay More Than $6,200 for Budget Help

Knox school officials will get some one-on-one training on how to put together next year’s budget. Last week, the school board approved a contract with a company called Administrator Assistance. They will work with Corporation Treasurer Dawn Bailey between now and October for just over $6,200.

Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart stressed that the company won’t put the budget together for the school corporation, but will give Bailey the training she needs so she’s able to do it herself in the future. “I think it’s money well-spent because we want to do it right, and we also have a bunch of changes going on with starting these two different accounts, the Operation and the Education accounts,” Reichhart said. “And with everything and with the transition, I just don’t want to make mistakes, and I’m not saying that we would make mistakes if we don’t approve them, but I believe it’s something that would help us out.”

Bailey said that former Treasurer Sherry Fort was willing to work with her, but she decided to seek outside help after Fort accepted a part-time job at North Judson-San Pierre.

Reichhart explained that Administrator Assistance is a group of retired superintendents and business managers who offer various services to school corporations. In this case, former Carroll Consolidated School Corporation Superintendent John Sayers has agreed to work with Bailey. Reichhart said that Sayers is very familiar with budgets in rural school districts.
