Some important budget information was provided to Knox City Council members when they met Tuesday.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston showed the council members the notice to the taxpayers which will be published in the paper soon. That notice simply informs the general public about the public hearing that will be held over the 2019 budget.
The hearing will occur during the city council’s first meeting in September which will be Tuesday the 11th.
Houston added that the council is scheduled to adopt the budget on Tuesday, September 25th. He noted that it is imperative to follow the budget schedule in order to ensure everything is completed and turned into the proper channels in a timely manner.
Additionally, Council members decided they want to hold a work session to go over the budget more thoroughly before the public hearing next month. They scheduled the session for 6:15 p.m. before their next meeting on Tuesday, August 28th.
In the meantime, Houston said that additional budget information can be accessed in his office.
