The replacement of a bridge on Pulaski County Road 700 North over Bogus run has come in under budget. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff told the county commissioners Monday that the final amount ended up being over $47,000 less than expected.
That means some unused grant money now has to be given back to the state. “I’ve got to go in front of the council to get $7,685 from the 9120 account,” Ruff said. “That’s the Community Crossings. We’re closing out the 2016 Community Crossings.”
JCI Bridge Group’s initial construction bid came in just under $480,000. Although the project was awarded a 50/50 matching grant through the state’s Community Crossings program in 2016, it didn’t reach the construction phase until this year.
