A long-term care facility may be looking to set up operations in Hamlet. “They’re checking with the state, a certificate of need with the State of Indiana, for a long-term care facility and an assisted living,” Town Council President Dave Kesvormas said during last week’s regular council meeting. “So I do know that.”
During a discussion on potential street and sidewalk work this week, Kesvormas said Hamlet has to be prepared for future development. “I’m watching our numbers explode here, and they’re going to explode here because of the big exodus from our neighboring states because of their taxes,” he said. “It’s going to happen. And when they do that, I just want us to be on the ball and be prepared to accept those things because it’s going to happen, and it’s going to happen a lot sooner than you guys think.”
He felt the town council needs to do a better job of educating residents about the importance of investing in sidewalks and other improvements.
