The replacement of the fire alarm system in the Pulaski County Justice Center will cost a bit less than originally thought. The county council had agreed to budget $39,000 for the project, based on the initial quote that Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Johnston received.
But Johnston told the county commissioners Monday that he’s since gotten a second, lower quote. “They came in almost $9,000 cheaper,” he said, “and it was my opinion, dealing with the company that we’ve got now, that I would like to see a change.”
The commissioners agreed to hire the company that submitted the lower quote, Koorsen Fire & Security. Johnston previously explained that the building’s original smoke detectors are reaching the end of their useful life, causing false alarms. He said the control panel is also obsolete.
