Members of the Knox Board of Works approved the 2019 Holiday Schedule when they met Wednesday morning.
The only question about the document came from member Steve Dodge who asked if there were city elections next year. Mayor Dennis Estok and Clerk-Treasurer Jeff Houston confirmed that local elections will be held in 2019.

Other dates included on the schedule are Tuesday, January 1st for New Year’s Day, Monday, January 21st for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Monday, February 18th for President’s Day.
Employees will also get April 19th off for Good Friday, Tuesday, May 27th off for Memorial Day and Thursday, July 4th off for Independence Day.
Additional holidays include Labor Day on Monday, September 2nd, Veteran’s Day on Monday, November 11th, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving on November 28th and 29th, Christmas Eve and Christmas day on December 24th and 25th and New Years Day on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020.
The schedule also lists next year’s Trick-or-Treat hours as 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 31st.
According to the schedule, city employees will have no paid holidays in March or August. Mayor Dennis Estok noted that the schedule will now go before the City Council for final approval.
