Winamac officials recently discussed the next step to take with their Wastewater Project after the contract bid opened in October came in over budget.
As a reminder, council members held a special session on Tuesday, October 30th and one bid from Crosby Construction was opened at that time. Since it came in over budget, Midwest Engineers CEO Mark Sullivan advised the council that they didn’t have to choose it because the Office of Community and Rural Affairs provides provisions that would allow them to rebid.
Town Manager Brad Zellers informed council members Monday night that they had to make a formal motion to reject the initial bids so they could re-advertise the project with some adjustments. He said some changes were made to certain locations and that should reduce the cost.
A motion was made to reject the bids and it passed unanimously. Zellers added that Sullivan has called for a special meeting to be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18th so members can open the new bids and select a contractor for this project.
