The Town of Hamlet is getting into the Christmas spirit. During Wednesday’s town council meeting, it was announced that the town will one again have a home decorating contest this year.
The first place winner will get $100, second place will receive $75, and the third place prize is $50. Members of the Hamlet Police Department will serve as judges, but the date for judging has not yet been set. A town tree lighting ceremony will also be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Hamlet officials continue discussing the purchase of sidewalk snow removal equipment. They’ve been considering whether to purchase a stand-alone snow blower or an attachment for the town’s Bobcat. Council members plan to make a final decision next Wednesday.
