The Pulaski County Council took action last week to make up a $20,000 shortfall in the county’s phone bill budget. Council members finalized a total of $16,350 in additional appropriations. $10,000 of that was for the telephone budget.
Auditor Laura Wheeler explained that budget transfers would cover the other half of the shortfall. “They budgeted $45,000, and it was actually $65,000 in telephone costs,” she said. “We bumped up the 2019 budget to cover the cost. However, he’s looking into other alternative phone options, he being IT, because we all think it’s too expensive.”
The county council also approved a number of budget transfer requests. They involved moving almost $121,000 within the commissioners budget, almost $41,000 in the sheriff’s budget, and more than $12,000 in the highway budget. However, council members held off on approving part of the coroner’s transfer request, due to questions about travel expenses.
